Fenty Beauty By Rihanna Foundation Review

When Rihanna announced a makeup line for Sephora that would feature a foundation with 40 different shades, I was beyond excited. As a woman of colour, finding a foundation that matches perfectly is quite difficult. So, I obviously had to pick it up and try it out for myself and I have to say, I’m rather impressed.

My colour is 290 and it’s described to be for “medium to tan skin with neutral olive undertones,” which is spot on as to how I would describe my skin colour.

The colour match is exact however, I’ve never been a fan of matte foundation. My skin is somewhere between normal and dry and so, a matte finish isn’t the best choice. With that being said, I was desperate to make this foundation work so I tried wearing a gel primer underneath to give my skin extra hydration, and it worked!

The Stila One Step Prime works really well with the Fenty Beauty soft matte foundation. So, if you’re not really into the matte look, try this out or any gel primer for a more dewy look.

The coverage of this foundation is medium to full so a little goes a long way. I find that one pump is enough for my entire face, but that’s mostly because I prefer a more natural look.

As for the price…the foundation is just $42. Way cheaper than my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, which retails for about $60. I’m curious now to try her highlighters and lip products. I think that’ll be my next purchase from the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna line. Stay tuned for the review…
