I’ve come to the realisation that I’ve never owned a cardigan, nor have I really felt the need to go out and buy one. But it seems to be a classic piece for some and when I brought it up at work, my colleagues could not relate. I guess it’s because the concept of the piece is often associated with old age? Or is that just all in my head?
After browsing through various shopping sites whilst shopping for knitwear, I kept coming across these oversized, chunky knit cardigans and so I thought, why not be basic and follow the trend that has evidently made a comeback this season.
I picked up this pale green cardigan with accentuated sleeves and bejewelled buttons from Zara and I have to say, I’ve become a fan of the style and will definitely be purchasing more in the near future. I love how it can be styled with a pair of jeans and trainers for a casual weekend look but also dressed up with trousers, as I’ve done here.
This is probably one of my favourite looks I’ve styled for fall. It’s a bit formal but still comfortable enough to wear all day. Case in point: I wore this outfit on one of the days I was in Amsterdam, from day to night.
Because I did the majority of my exploring in Amsterdam by foot, comfortable shoes were essential. These suede ankle boots, which I pair with almost all my outfits, are so so comfortable. You can tell how much I love them as they look to be wearing out a bit in these photos.
The trousers are also from Zara (shock!) and I’ve been wearing them nonstop this season. To top off this look, a small lady bag, which I purchased from Mango, felt like the appropriate choice. By the way, Monago does really good accessories and they’re super affordable so definitely check them out.
What are your thoughts on cardigans? Love ’em? Hate ’em?
