Shop Latin American Design In Canada

If there’s anything I love more than a white tee, it would have to be a good quality, incredibly soft, perfect fit white tee. And this one by Costa Rican label Très Tropical is just that. Now you’re probably wondering where on earth did I come across a Costa Rican brand in Canada. Well, my friend Mariana Valle has ventured into the e-commerce business and has launched a shop called Anańa Collective. The curated online platform supports local Latin American businesses, and Très Tropical is one of the first.

Made of ultra-soft pima cotton, the line features two t-shirts. A white one with a “Love Over Fear” handmade graphic and a black tee donning the brand’s logo. One thing that really stood out to me was that for every t-shirt sold, the brand will plant a tree with an organization called One Tree Planted.

I got a size small and while the fit is a bit on the looser end, it just makes it that much more versatile for styling. It’s perfect for tucking into a pair of vintage jeans or trousers, and can also be styled with shorts and a blazer come spring/summer.

Aside from t-shirts, Valle is hoping to expand her curation with jewelry, loungewear, everyday basics and homeware. During the curation process, she’s looking at brands that have some type of sustainable approach in their brand’s mission. Valle has a vast knowledge of Latin American design thanks to her former experience working at Vogue and so, she’s hoping to bring something new and unique to people here in Canada. For those who will value high quality, local designs from Latin America.
