My Fall 2014 Wish List

This summer went by so fast–which is insane considering I didn’t do anything. Like, literally. Anyway, fall is two weeks away, and I couldn’t be more excited.

People seem to love summer here in Canada, which I get since 85 per cent of our weather is cold. But I’m personally not a big fan. Yeah, you can wear cute dresses and stuff but I love the colour black. And that seems to be an inappropriate choice of shade in the heat.

Well in two weeks, that’s all gonna change. I’ve been scouring the web for fall items and I am so excited. Here are some (keyword: SOME) of the things that are on top of my list for the upcoming fall season–lots of greys and blacks!

3658203064_1_1_1For those of you who don’t know me on a personal level, I love dressing like a tom-boy. It’s so much more comfortable than having to put on a blouse and skirt each morning. This is just a simpler and much more comfortable way to look chic.

Printed jogging trousers, $59.90, ZARA

The Overgrown

fall fashionBigger is always better. That is just a fact of life that we all must come to terms with. Overgrown sweaters and blazers are my go-to items for the fall season. They’re super easy to style, look incredible on and they’re staple pieces. What more do you want?

Oversize knit, $58, Oak + Fort

Long fleece blazer, $79.90, ZARA

fallchokersI love dainty jewelry, but now that chokers are making a come back, that’s all I’ve been thinking about. And these designs by Lili Claspe are to die for.

sweater-1-detailed_1Each season I fall in love with a pattern or a print and so this fall, it’s all about the grid. I also love that it’s sheer–perfect for making a subtle statement.

Vogue puts models on its September 2014 Issue

American fashion magazines all make a big play for its September issue; scoring someone pretty major to don the cover. The most anticipated of them all is obviously Vogue, which normally picks the highest profile celebrities–Jennifer Lawrence covered September 2013.

However this year, the revealed cover stars are not your run-of-the-mill celebrities. They’re models!

The pull out cover features Arizona Muse, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente and Andreea Diaconu in addition to the main cover image featuring Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss.

These “Instagirls” may not fit the traditional definition of a celebrity, but they will definitely help Vogue sell the most copies. I mean Cara Delevingne alone has over six million Instagram followers. I think it’s safe to say she’s hit celebrity status.

Sidewalk Star Taylor Swift

Summer 2014 in New York has been all about Taylor Swift’s daily looks. I literally scroll through my Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr feed each day to see what the Red singer is donning. Not only are her outfits on point, but the accessorizing is simply perfection. Now, I know summer isn’t over yet therefore there are plenty more street style looks to come from Ms. Swift, but I couldn’t help to do a quick post on my favorite looks thus far.

The Granny-Print

050914-taylor-swift-16-567Everyone needs a granny-printed dress in their wardrobe–both for summer and fall seasons. It’s like an LBD but snazzier!

Hamptons Hottie

070114-taylor-swift-street-style-594The outfit is obviously perfect, but what I’m really loving is her pushed back, beach waved, almost wet hair. She’s so ready for a trip to the Hamptons.

Dolled-Up In Dots

Paintlounge x Forever 21 Pre-Fall

Art has never been my thing. The most you’ll get from me are stick figures–and even those don’t look that great. So when I arrived at the Paintlounge for the Forever 21 Pre-Fall event, I immediately got cold feet. The set up of canvases and stools and the beautiful paintings on the wall…it was intimidating. But more on that later.

The Forever 21 collection for the fall season looks very promising–think varsity mixed with retro with a splash of pink. But what really has me excited is the Barbie collection. I can’t wait to get my hands on the sheer “Barbie Doll” jacket in black (not pink!).

After going through all the fabulous F21 clothes, Claudia (former co-intern at Flare) and I got our paint on. It literally took me a good half hour to come up with something to paint. So, here’s the final result…

2014-07-30 19.21.48-1…mine’s the one on the right. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

Ornaments of Opulence: Lili Claspe

Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 12.30.36 PMWhen it comes to accessorizing during the summer time, I tend to keep it simple by just propping on a necklace or a plain Jane ring. The last thing I need is to pile on more stuff in this rather unappealing humidity we’ve been encountering (I’m a winter baby, sorry not sorry).

Last night, I was creeping Candice Swanepoel’s Instagram and came across this gorgeous moon and opal necklace she was wearing, so I had to look it up. That’s when I discovered, Lili Claspe; a jewelry designer based in California who has an online shop filled with magical and glittery ornaments.

Now, her designs are simple (that’s how I like my jewels) but have an opulence effect. I’m officially in love! Check out some of the pieces I’m coveting at the moment, below.
