Travel Log: A Quick Trip To Oxford

After visiting London this past summer, I just had to go back before the year was up. Originally I had planned to go for Christmas but flights were way too pricey so I planned a last minute trip at the beginning of December. And I’m so glad I did because no place in the world does Christmas as well as London.

My second day there, I booked a train to Oxford which is about an hour outside the city. If you love Harry Potter as much as I do, I’d highly recommend paying a visit.

First stop, the Bodleian Library. Several of the films were shot here including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where Ron is forced to practice dancing with Professor McGonagall before the Yule ball.

I was completely blown away by the mouldings inside. You don’t really notice it in the film as much but in real life, it’s larger than life. Side note: I think Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe sat on this bench in a scene. No big deal.

The Christ Church, another building where Harry Potter was filmed, had the most spectacular tree growing on the side of it.

Look familiar?

I fell in love with the simplicity of this Christmas tree.

Even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan, Oxford is a great place to just walk around and appreciate the architecture, visit libraries with the world’s oldest books, and shop. Oh, and there are a ton of pubs and bars nearby for you to enjoy.
